Principal Message

My name is Paula Murphy, and I am honoured to serve as the principal of École Mountain View School. When my family moved to Hinton in 2017, my boys attended École Mountain View, participating in the English program. During that time, I witnessed firsthand the commitment and dedication of the staff in making learning engaging and meaningful for all students. Now, I am privileged to work alongside a dedicated and hard-working group of educators and support staff who go above and beyond for our students daily. While I may not teach in the French Immersion program, I am committed to embracing and supporting our school's bilingual environment. Each day, I strive to learn French to the best of my ability.

As principal, I am dedicated to building strong relationships and connections with our school community. I start each day by supervising the bus drop-off and welcoming students, staff, and parents to our school. I believe that parents play a crucial role in supporting their children's education and fostering a strong school community. I encourage open communication and look forward to partnering with parents to support their children’s success at École Mountain View School. I send out weekly newsletters to families, keeping them informed about what is happening in our school and including important information for our school community.

At École Mountain View School, our mission is to empower our entire school community to embrace lifelong learning and adapt to the challenges of an ever-changing world. We prioritize character development by promoting honesty, integrity, citizenship, and social responsibility. Together, students, staff, and parents work collaboratively to create a safe and nurturing environment where every child has the opportunity to succeed. Through their experiences at École Mountain View, our students grow into responsible, productive citizens, ready to contribute positively to the broader community.

Our Assistant Principals, Samantha Ritchie and Gabrielle Lyons, are passionate supporters of our French Immersion program and are crucial in assisting all teachers, especially those involved in French instruction. We collaborate with the teaching staff to ensure high-quality education across the school.

Leanne Weik, our Learning Support Teacher, partners with teachers to ensure that Individualized Support Plans address each student's needs. Additionally, she manages our Educational Assistants and coordinates various student services.

Erica Koebel, our Family School Liaison Counsellor, works closely with students and their families to reduce stress and anxiety, providing essential support for students and parents.

I want to extend my gratitude to the school community and stakeholders for your dedication and commitment to École Mountain View School and the success of our students. It is truly an honour to lead such a dedicated team of students and staff through what promises to be a remarkable school year!

Sincerely,

Paula Murphy
