A school council is a means for parents and community members to work together with the principal and the school to support and enhance student learning. Anyone (parent, guardian, grandparent, etc) that attends council meetings will be considered a part of the school council and will have a vote in decisions. Learn more about school councils here.
The École Mountain View School Council is committed to working collaboratively with the teachers, administrators, support staff, and students of EMVS to make decisions and develop strategies that will enhance the educational experience of all students. The École Mountain View School Council has been active in helping to guide decisions made to benefit students. Council members have assisted in developing policies towards our open campus, Student Dress Code, Electronics Use at School and also in revising the School Discipline Policy. Our School Council also advises school administration on continuing existing programs, such as our Nordic skiing program. The Council has supported the students of EMVS through the École Mountain View Fundraising Association by assisting in the upgrading of the school playground equipment, subsidizing Field Study Trips for all of our students, and sponsoring numerous cultural performers to entertain our students in both English and French. The School Council has also made it a priority to honour the school staff on World Teachers Day, and Teacher Appreciation Week.
All meetings are held in the ÉMVS Multi-Purpose Room and begin promptly at 7:00 p.m.
